CREATOR OS: Setup & Operations Guide

This guide will help you understand how to fully setup this template to much your brands vibe and style, understanding how to add information to the site whether it is course detail, video lessons, digital products, setting up a membership plan & badge. Make sure you use it to setup up your site.

1. Deployment & Warranty

Installation Your Creator OS isn't just a file; it is a transfer protocol that clones the entire system architecture directly into your Wix Studio account.

  1. Access: Open the CREATOR_OS_ACCESS.pdf document you just downloaded. This is your system key.
  2. Execute: Inside the PDF terminal, click the button labeled INSTANT INSTALL.
  3. Authenticate: This command will open a secure link in your browser. If you aren't logged in, Wix will ask you to sign in to your Wix Studio account now.
  4. Deploy: Click the "Add Site" button on the screen. The system will now duplicate the entire Creator OS infrastructure into your dashboard as a brand new site.

Activate Your Warranty Your license includes a standard deployment warranty. Before you begin customization, you must register your unique License Key (found in your Gumroad receipt) to activate your support window.

  • Why Register? It guarantees you direct technical assistance if you break the code or encounter a bug.
  • How to Register: Click Here to activate your license. It only takes 30 seconds.

2. Design Basics: Customizing the Look & Feel

While this guide focuses heavily on the engine—the data that powers your courses and dashboard—never forget that the body of this vehicle is fully yours to design.

Creator OS is built on Wix Studio, which means the visual layout is not locked away in code. You have total creative freedom to change everything you see on screen.

  • Edit Anything: From fonts and colors to button shapes and page layouts—if you can click it, you can customize it.
  • Simple Visual Editor: You don’t need to be a designer. Just click on any element (like a headline or a photo) and use the Inspector Panel on the right to tweak its appearance instantly.

3. CMS Overview (Content Engine)

Your Site is Smart Creator OS is not a static brochure; it is a dynamic platform. You don't need to manually build a new page every time you launch a course or add a resource. Instead, you use the CMS (Content Management System).

Think of the CMS as your site's brain. It stores all your information—videos, text, downloads—in simple spreadsheets called "Collections." When you add a row to a collection, the site automatically generates the design for you.

How to Access It

  1. In your Wix Studio interface, look for the CMS icon (it looks like a database stack) on the left sidebar.

  2. Click "Your Collections".

  3. You will see the 6 collections that power your platform:

    • Creator Bio: Your profile and signature.
    • Courses: The cover art and details for your masterclasses.
    • Lessons: The actual video content and curriculum.
    • Resource Library: Your downloads and templates.
    • Testimonials: Student reviews for the homepage.
    • User Progress: ⚠️ DO NOT EDIT. This collection automatically tracks where your students left off so the "Resume" button works. If you delete or modify this manually, your students will lose their progress.

4. Courses Collection Setup

The Courses collection is the master database for your products. Every row you add here automatically generates a "Course Overview" page and populates your catalog.

courses.png
The Fields Breakdown Here is a guide to every column in the spreadsheet:

  • Title: The official name of your course (e.g., "Advanced 3D Motion Design").
  • Tagline: A short, punchy subtitle (e.g., "Master lighting, rigging, and physics in 4 weeks").
  • Description: The full sales pitch. This is a Rich Text field, meaning you can format paragraphs to explain exactly what the course is about.
  • Learning Outcomes: A bulleted list of skills students will gain (e.g., "Master Redshift Rendering").
  • Cover Image: The static thumbnail used on the course cards.
  • Cinematic Hero: A background video loop (upload a video file here). This plays silently behind the Title on the course landing page, giving it a premium, immersive feel.
  • Difficulty & Duration: These fields act as a quick guide for your students. By stating the level (e.g., "Advanced") and time commitment (e.g., "12 Hours"), you help them instantly decide if the course fits their current skills and schedule.
  • ShowOnHome (Boolean): A checkbox.
    • Checked: The course appears on your Homepage grid.
    • Unchecked: The course is hidden from the homepage (perfect for secret bonus courses or archived content).

System Fields (Do Not Touch)

  • Courses (Item) / Lessons (item): These are dynamic links generated by Wix to connect your pages.

Where It Displays

  1. The Homepage: If ShowOnHome is checked, the Cover Image, Title & Tagline appear in the main "Featured Courses" grid.

  1. The Courses List: This is your full catalog page. It displays all your active courses in a searchable grid, using the same card layout as the homepage.

  1. The Course Page: Clicking a card takes the user here. The Cinematic Hero plays in the background header, while the Description and Outcomes build the body of the page to sell the value.

5. Lessons & Curriculum Building

If the "Courses" collection is the cover of the book, the Lessons collection is the pages inside. This is where you upload your video content and structure the actual curriculum for your students.

The Fields Breakdown Here is how to build your syllabus row by row:

  • Title: The name of the specific module (e.g., "01. Interface Setup").
  • Short Note: A brief description that appears under the title. Use this to highlight the key takeaway (e.g., "Configure your workspace and tools").
  • Order: This controls the playback sequence. Always start with 1 for the first lesson of each course and count up (1, 2, 3...). This ensures your students watch the content in the correct chronological order.
  • Video: You have two options for hosting your content:
    • External: Paste a private link from YouTube or Vimeo.
    • Native Hosting (Wix): If you prefer to keep everything inside Wix Studio, upload your video file to the Site Files (Media Manager). Once uploaded, click 3 dots on the file, select "Copy URL," and url field in the Lessons.
  • IsPreview (Boolean): The "Free Sample" switch.
    • Checked: Anyone can watch this lesson without paying. Use this for your "Welcome" video or a teaser.
    • Unchecked: The lesson is locked. Only members with an active subscription can view this content.
  • Course (Reference Field): This is the most critical field. Click this cell to select which Course this lesson belongs to.
    • Important: If you leave this blank, the lesson will not appear anywhere. It acts as the bridge connecting the video to the course.

Where It Displays

  1. The Course Page (Curriculum List): On the sales page, your lessons appear as a clean list. This allows potential buyers to see exactly what is included in the package before they buy.
    curriculum.png
  2. The Course Player (Sidebar): Once a student starts watching, this collection builds the navigation menu on the left side of the screen. The Order number sorts the list, and the IsPreview status determines if the lesson has a "Locked" or "Unlocked" icon.

6. Resources & Downloadable Assets

Your Creator OS includes a dedicated digital library for your students. This isn't just for course videos; it is a repository for assets, templates, PDFs, and tools that add value to your membership.

The Fields Breakdown Here is how to populate your vault:

  • Title: The name of the asset (e.g., "Lighting Setup Cheat Sheet" or "Character Rigging Template"). This is what users will search for.
  • Category: This field is smart. Whatever you type here (e.g., "Cheat Sheet", "Templates", "Slides") is automatically turned into a Filter Tag on the live page. You don't need to create categories elsewhere; just type them here, and the system builds the menu for you.
  • File URL: This is the destination link. You have total flexibility here:
    • Direct Download: Paste a link to a file hosted on Dropbox or Google Drive.
    • External Product: Paste a link to a Gumroad product page or another store.
    • Internal File: Upload a PDF or Zip file to your Wix Media Manager, copy the URL, and paste it here.

Where It Displays

  • The Library Grid: Every item appears as a card in your main Resource Library page.
  • The Search Bar: Users can type any part of the Title into the search bar to instantly find the asset.
  • The Filter Tags: The system scans your Category column and automatically generates clickable buttons at the top of the page (e.g., "Templates", "Slides"). This lets users filter the library with a single click.
    library.png

7. Testimonials & Social Proof

The Testimonials collection powers the "Wall of Love" on your site. It is designed to build immediate trust by showcasing real results from your students in a high-end, animated format.

The Fields Breakdown To maintain the premium look of the site, fill out these fields for each student:

  • Student Name: The full name of the student (e.g., "Daniel Miller").
  • Handle: Their social media handle or professional title (e.g., "@dan_miller").
  • Quote: The specific feedback they gave you. Keep this concise for the best visual impact.
  • Avatar: A square headshot of the student.
  • Rating: A number from 1 to 5. The system will automatically convert this into visual stars on the site.

Where It Displays

  • The Animated Marquee: These testimonials are pulled into a custom, auto-scrolling marquee on your homepage.
  • The "Rule of 4": To ensure the infinite scroll animation looks perfect and has no gaps or visual glitches, you must have exactly 4 published testimonials in this collection.

8. Bio & Creator Profile

The Creator Bio collection is where you define the face and voice of the platform. Instead of editing individual text boxes on every page, you update your information here once, and the system reflects those changes across the entire site.

The Fields Breakdown To establish your professional identity, fill out these specific fields:

  • Full Name: Your professional name as you want it to appear across the site (e.g., "Alex Rivera").
  • Portrait Main: Upload a high-resolution, professional photo of yourself. This image serves as the primary visual for your "About" sections and course pages.
  • Signature: Upload a transparent SVG or PNG of your actual signature. If you prefer more privacy, you can simply upload your initials in a stylish font—this still adds that premium, personal "stamp" to your pages.
  • Short Bio: A one-to-two sentence "elevator pitch" that appears in smaller sections like footers or sidebar cards.
  • Full Story: Your complete professional journey. This field supports Rich Text, allowing you to use headers, bold text, and links to tell your story in depth.

Where It Displays

  1. The Homepage: Your bio, photo, and signature appear in a dedicated section that includes a "Book 1 on 1 Session" button, driving visitors directly to a service booking page.
    Bio2.png
  2. Course Detail Pages: Your profile is displayed here to remind potential students who they are learning from, adding authority to your curriculum.
    Bio1.png

9. Dashboard (Member Area)

The Dashboard is the private home for your students once they log in. It is a "smart" page that automatically aggregates their active subscriptions, upcoming events, and learning progress into one unified view.

How the Experience Works The dashboard is split into several dynamic zones that update in real-time based on the student's activity:

  • Personalized Welcome: At the top of the page, the system greets the student by their first name as stored in their Wix member profile.
  • Event Forecast: This section displays upcoming public events. If a student sees an event they want to attend, they can RSVP directly from the dashboard by clicking "View Event" to secure their spot.
  • The Smart Resume: This section communicates directly with the User Progress collection. It identifies exactly which course the student was last watching and provides a "Resume" button that takes them back to the specific lesson where they left off.
  • Navigation Tabs: Students can toggle between four views to manage their experience:
    • Overview: The main dashboard view featuring the forecast and resume logic.
    • My Plans: Displays their active subscriptions and allows them to manage or cancel their billing directly.
    • My Events: A list of all RSVPs for upcoming workshops or live sessions.
    • My Bookings: A record of scheduled 1-on-1 sessions or private consulting.

Where It Displays This page is located at the /dashboard URL and is restricted to logged-in members. Because the data is pulled automatically from your Events, Bookings, and Pricing Plans apps, you don't need to manually update this page; it updates itself as your students interact with your business.

Managing Loading Screen Containers

In Creator OS, the smooth transition you see when opening the Dashboard or Lesson Player is created by a container used as a loading screen. Because this container is a physical layer that covers your entire page, you will need to manage its visibility or position while you are in the editor.

1. The Dashboard Loading Container

This container acts as a "curtain" while the system pulls your member's data. In the Wix Studio editor, it will likely be the first thing you see, blocking your view of the actual Dashboard.

  • How to Edit Underneath: You have two easy options:
    • Hide it: Open the Layers Panel, find the loading container, and click the "Eye" icon. This makes it invisible in the editor so you can work on the buttons and layout beneath it.
    • Move it: You can temporarily drag the container down the page or off to the side to reveal the Dashboard.
  • Crucial Step: Once your edits are done, remember to unhide it or move it back to its original position (aligned at 0,0) so it functions correctly for your members.

(You can move the container down to edit, just ensure it’s moved back before publishing)

2. The Lesson Player Loading Container

Similar to the Dashboard, this container ensures students don't see a blank video player while their access is being verified.

  • Adjusting the Layout: If this container is covering your video player settings:
    • Simply select the container in the Layers Panel and toggle the visibility off.
    • Alternatively, move the container down the canvas to access the video player elements.
  • Design Tips: This is a great place to add your own branding or a custom "Loading..." message. Just ensure the container remains a top-level layer.

(You can move the container down to edit, just ensure it’s moved back before publishing)

10. Access & Membership Plans

(This template operates on a single-tier logic. Please create only one Pricing Plan and one Member Badge to ensure the automation grants access correctly.)

The logic of Creator OS is built for a "Master Access" model. The site is programmed to look for one specific plan and one specific badge. When a student holds that badge, the entire platform—from courses to premium resources—unlocks for them automatically.

Because of the custom code provided with this template, you do not need to set up any manual automations. The backend script (event.js) is already listening for purchases and will handle the heavy lifting for you.

Step 1: Create Your Pricing Plan

First, you need to define what your customers are buying.

(How to open the Wix editor dashboard)

  1. Go to your Wix Dashboard > Catalog > Pricing Plans.
  2. Click + Create Plan.
  3. Name & Price: Give your plan a name (e.g., "Full Access Membership") and set your price.
  4. The Logic Rule: Since this template is designed to unlock everything at once, you only need to create this one plan.
  5. Save the plan.

Plan.png

Step 2: Create Your Member Badge

The badge is the "digital key" that the code looks for to unlock the video player.

  1. Go to your Wix Dashboard > Search "badge" > Badges.
  2. Click + Create Badge.
  3. The Master Badge: You only need to create one badge. The code is designed to "Auto-Detect" the first badge it finds in your system and assign it to members who have active subscription plans.
  4. Styling: Give it a name (e.g., "Pro Member"). This name will appear under the student's name on their Dashboard and in the Community Hub.
  5. Visuals: Choose a color and icon. These will automatically be pulled into the Dashboard UI via the getBadgeVisuals function.

How the Code Handles the Rest

You don't need to create a "Member Automation" because the template's backend does it for you:

  • Automatic Granting: The wixPricingPlans_onPlanPurchased script detects a new member and instantly pins your badge to their profile.
  • Automatic Revoking: If a plan expires or is cancelled, the wixPricingPlans_onPlanExpired script removes the badge immediately.
  • Daily Cleanup: To be 100% safe, a "Cleanup Job" (badgeCleanup.jsw) runs every morning at 4:00 AM to double-check that only people with active plans still have a badge.

Where It Displays

  • Dashboard: The student’s name is displayed with this badge pinned right underneath it.
  • Course Player: The sidebar will show "Locked" icons until the code detects this badge on the user's profile.
  • Community Hub: The badge serves as a status symbol next to their name in all social areas

11. Events & Bookings

Creator OS leverages Wix's native Zoom integration, allowing you to host live sessions without ever manually sending a meeting link. The system generates unique links for every booking and sends them automatically to your students.

Bookings (1-on-1 Consulting)

The template is designed to funnel users toward your private coaching via a dedicated "high-intent" section on your homepage.

  • The Workflow: Visitors book sessions directly from your homepage. Once booked, a unique Zoom link is created and automatically sent in their confirmation email.
  • How to Set it Up: 1. Go to Wix Dashboard> Catalog > Booking Services and create your service. 2. In the "Location" or "Video Conferencing" section, select Zoom. 3. The first time you do this, you'll be prompted to Connect your Zoom account.
  • Where It Displays: The "Book 1 on 1 Session" button on your Homepage is the primary entry point. After booking, the session details and Zoom link appear in the student's Dashboard under the "My Bookings" tab.

booking.png

Events (Workshops & Webinars)

Events are treated as community-wide "Forecasts" to drive engagement and live attendance.

  • The Workflow: When you schedule a group workshop, it’s automatically broadcast to all your members.
  • How to Set it Up: 1. Go to Wix Dashboard > Events and create a new event. 2. Under the "Location" tab, select Online and enable the Zoom toggle. 3. The system will generate the webinar link for everyone who RSVPs.
  • Where It Displays: Upcoming events are displayed prominently on the Dashboard Page in the "Event Forecast" section. Students can view details and RSVP directly from their dashboard.

12. Community & Social Hub

The Community Space is your private social network. It keeps students engaged by allowing them to share progress and ask questions directly on your platform.

The Setup: How it Functions

  • Verified Status: The site logic automatically displays the Member Badge (from Section 10) next to a student's name in every post. This instantly identifies them as a verified, active member of your inner circle.
  • Engagement Feed: This is a professional social feed supporting likes, comments, and media. It creates a "Hub" for your students to interact without leaving your site for third-party apps like Discord.

Where It Displays

  1. The Community Hub: A central page where all discussion groups (e.g., "General Chat," "Student Wins") are listed.
  2. Member Profile: Clicking a user's name shows their bio, their recent posts, and their badge status.
  3. The Dashboard: A student's joined groups are accessible via the sidebar, making it easy to jump back into the conversation.

13. Advanced Settings: Using config.js for Design

In Wix Studio, most colors are handled via the Site Styles panel. However, Creator OS uses custom code to power the Dashboard and Course Player. Because these elements are dynamic (they change based on whether a lesson is locked or a plan is active), their appearance is controlled by config.js.

If you try to change these specific colors in the normal editor, nothing will happen. You must update them here.

Detailed Field Breakdown

1. Dashboard Navigation Tabs

These settings control the text-based menu at the top of the student dashboard (Overview, My Plans, My Events, My Bookings).

  • ACTIVE_TEXT: The color of the tab the user is currently viewing.
  • DEFAULT_TEXT: The color of the tabs the user is not viewing.
  • Live Effect: Ensures students always know exactly which section of the dashboard they are in.

2. Subscription Status Pills

In the "My Plans" section, the site displays a "Status" tag for each subscription. These tags use a "Tint" style (bright text on a soft, semi-transparent background).

  • ACTIVE: Usually a success color (Green/Lime).
  • CANCELED: Usually a warning color (Red).
  • WARNING: Used for "Pending" or "Paused" payments (Yellow/Gold).
  • DEFAULT: A neutral state (Grey).
  • The "BG" Property: Note the rgba value (e.g., rgba(204, 255, 0, 0.2)). The 0.2 at the end makes the background 20% transparent, creating that premium "pilled" look.

3. Course Player Sidebar & Mobile Menu

The Lesson Player is the most complex part of the site. It needs to visually communicate what is playing, what is available, and what is locked.

  • ACTIVE_TEXT / ACTIVE_BG: This highlights the specific lesson the student is currently watching.
  • UNLOCKED_TEXT: The color of all other lessons the student has access to.
  • LOCKED_TEXT: A faded color for lessons the student cannot watch yet. This motivates them to upgrade.
  • Live Effect: These settings apply to the Desktop Sidebar and the Mobile Pop-up Menu.

How to Edit the Code

  1. Open the Code Panel: Click the { } icon on the left-hand sidebar in Wix Studio.

  2. Navigate to the File: Open the folder Public and click on config.js.

  3. Replace the Hex Codes: Find the lines labeled with the elements above. Replace the existing hex codes (e.g., #CCFF00) with your preferred colors.

    • Tip: Keep the quotation marks (" ") and commas (,) exactly where they are, or the code will break.
  4. Publish: Hit Publish to push these changes to your live site.

14. Licensing, Usage Rights & Publishing

When you purchase Creator OS, you are acquiring a Standard Commercial License. This grants you a non-exclusive, perpetual right to use the template’s infrastructure, design, and custom Velo code.

What You Can Do (Your Rights)

  • Unlimited Projects: Unlike many templates that restrict you to a single URL, you have the right to use this infrastructure for unlimited personal projects, internal business tools, or client websites.
  • Commercial Monetization: You have full rights to sell your courses and services through the template and keep 100% of your revenue.
  • Full Customization: You are encouraged to modify the design, CSS, and config.js to suit any number of different brands or clients.

What You Cannot Do (The Restrictions)

  • No Resale as a Product: You are strictly prohibited from reselling Creator OS as a template or redistributing the source files as a standalone digital product (e.g., selling it on your own site as a "Wix Template").
  • No Repackaging of Logic: You may not extract the custom Velo scripts solely to repackage them into a competing template or a public component library for sale.

Going Live: Subscription & Domain

To move from "Editing" to "Earning," you must finalize your Wix infrastructure. Without a Business-level setup, your "One-Plan" system cannot process payments.

Step 1: Upgrade to a Wix Business Plan

Creator OS requires a Wix Business or E-commerce plan.

  • Why? Standard "Website" plans do not support recurring payments (subscriptions).
  • The Goal: Ensure your plan supports "Pricing Plans" and provides enough video storage for your course library.

Step 2: Connect Your Professional Domain

  1. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Connect Domain.
  2. Follow the prompts to either buy a new domain or point your existing domain to Wix.

Step 3: Setup Payment Gateways

You must connect a processor to receive student payments.

  1. Go to Finances > Accept Payments.
  2. Connect Stripe, PayPal, or Wix Payments.

Step 4: The Final Publish

(Before publishing make sure the site's content is perfectly responsive and looks good on all devices)

Once your domain is live and your plan is active:

  1. Enter the Wix Studio Editor.
  2. Click Publish in the top-right corner.
  3. Verification: Open your site in an Incognito browser window. Try to click on a "Locked" lesson—it should correctly redirect you to your Pricing Page.
